Job search / Career advice / Motivation letter

A motivation letter is a letter that always accompanies a CV. Its goal is to explain to the recruiter why you are applying for a job in his company (what is your motivation ?).

1. The presentation

The presentation of a motivation letter follows the same rule as the presentation of an ordinary letter. It must not exceed one A4 page. It can be typed with a computer or hand-written. In both cases, you have to sign it in the bottom-right corner. Use short sentences.

2. The content

Justification of your candidature
The first sentence is very important. It has to talk about the company and to explain why you are applying for a job in this company.

Your skills
The mail part of the letter is a paragraph talking about your skills. What are they ? What can you bring to the company ? Talk about your achievements.

Propose a meeting
Ask to meet the recruiter. Finish by the usual polite sentences.
