The modern recruitment process is the process by which companies recruit new employees in developped countries. This process may be different according to the country and the company considered, but the basics are the same. We are going to explain them.

There are two situations where an employee is applying for a job :

  • He is answering to a job offer
  • He is doing a spontaneous application

The process is nearly the same in both cases. There are two steps :

  • Sending a CV and a motivation letter
  • Going through one or several interviews

It is important to note that a CV is always accompanied by a motivation letter. These two documents give complementary information.

After each of these steps the company proceeds to a selection between the candidates : some candidates are eliminated and do not go to the next step. The first selection is done by looking at the CVs and motivation letters. The candidates whose profiles are not adapted to the position are eliminated. After each interview, selections are also made among the remaining candidates.
